Blood Moon Eclipses

4 appearing over 2 years, and check out the dates

 “Signs” in the Heavens

Why did God create the stars in the heavens in the first place?  We read one significant answer in Genesis, the first chapter.

Moses wrote:  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: (Genesis 1:14).

The word for “sign” here, in the Hebrew, is owth, and means “a signal, as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence,” etc.   The word for “seasons” is the Hebrew moadimand means “festivals, literally, appointed times.”

Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon points out that this word means “a sign,” “a token” (Exo.12:13; Josh.2:12), “signs and times” (Gen.1:14), i.e., “signs of times.” It is used of a military ensign, a sign of something past, and a sign of something future, a portent, as well as a sign of anything which cannot be seen.

For “seasons”, Strong’s Concordance has “an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; spec. a festival.”  Gesenius has it, “(1) a set time, . . . (2) an assembly . . . (3) a place in which an assembly is held . . . (4) an appointed time, a signal.”

Thus heavenly bodies, and the periodic return of comets, and celestial meteor showers, and eclipses, can be, in Biblical terms, a “heavenly sign”!  Jesus spoke of such signs occurring before His return to planet Earth.  When such a sign occurs on a moad or moadim, or Festival of God, it is especially significant.

Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, said that if people are seeking an omen, or sign, they should just check out the timing of the highly unusual four blood moons over the next two years, including a “super blood moon eclipse.”

If you want to understand the timing of the Lord, you have to understand the seasons of the Lord, the feasts of the Lord and the calendar of the Lord, Biltz explains.

Four Blood moons in a row are called Tetrads by NASA.  When tetrads have occurred in the past on these holidays observed by Jews around the world, and an increasing number of Christians as well, they have coincided with momentous events in the history of the Jewish people.

The last time the same sequence happened was in 1967 and 1968, when Israel recaptured Jerusalem in the Six-Day War. Before that, it was in the 1940s, whenIsrael was born.

It didn’t happen the 1800s, not in the 1700s. Not even in the 1600s.

It did take place in the 1400s, in 1493 and 1494, when the Jews were expelled from Spain.

He says historically, these types of solar eclipses have been signs, foretelling important events such as the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem.

“Two happened right in a row at the time of destruction of the temple in70 A.D. and on feast days,” he said.

“Around eight months before the Temple was destroyed we find on 10/18/69 there was a partial lunar eclipse on the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles). A total solar eclipse followed this on Nisan 1-3/30/70, the beginning of the religious year. Two weeks later there was a penumbral lunar eclipse on Passover on 4/14/70. An annular solar eclipse followed this on Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets also the Jewish New Year) on 9/23/70. Then another penumbral lunar eclipse on Sukkot on 10/8/70,” he explained.

Biltz said that what makes the coming events startling is the fact they will happen on the Feast of Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles in consecutive years.

“This has happened only eight times over the last 2,000 years!” Biltz said. “And the last two times these occurred on the Jewish holidays there was a war in the Middle East regarding the nation of Israel. These are patterns and historical facts that cannot be disregarded. The Jewish Talmud records that total lunar eclipses are indicators or omens for the nation of Israel.”

In the Old Testament, the prophet Joel states: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joel 2:31)

Acts 2 states: “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.”

The pastor of El-Shaddai Ministries went into great detail about the significant events that have occurred on these dates in history and in Scripture.

“According to Judaism this is the day Adam was created and crowned God as King. This also begins a shemittah year (Sabbath or 7th) for the land to rest.

The story began in 2008 when Biltz made an astounding discovery.

Biltz had been studying prophecies that focus on the sun and moon, even going back to the book of Genesis, which states the lights in the sky would be “be for signs, and for seasons.”

“It means a signal, kind of like ‘one if by land, two if by sea.’ It’s like God wants to signal us,” he said. “The Hebrew word implies … not only is it a signal, but it’s a signal for coming or His appearing.”

He affirmed that future events cannot be predicted exactly, but he believes there is a clear link between important historical events and the lunar eclipses.

The message, Biltz believes, is that the Messianic prophecies that Jesus fulfilled 2,000 years ago, when He came the first time, happened to the very day.

Biltz explains he believes the events surrounding the Second Coming also will happen to the very day of the Fall Feasts.

As you may know, the next Sabbatical Year in the Jewish Calendar will begin on the Jewish New Year (Rosh HaShannah) September 13-14, in the year 2014-2015.

Also, you may know that Daniel’s seventieth week (Seven-year tribulation) will be a seven year Sabbatical cycle. Students of biblical prophecy have long compared Daniel’s seventieth week with the Tribulation Period as laid out in the book of Revelation.

Intrigued with the Scriptures that repeat over and over again that our Savior’s Second Coming will be heralded with signs in the heavens, in which the sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, Pastor Mark Biltz went on the Internet, to a U.S. Government website to see if he could find any solar or lunar eclipses over the next few years that might be significant.

To his surprise, he found four lunar eclipses and two solar eclipses in the Sabbatical Year of 2014 and 2015. Also, he noticed that they all appear on Jewish Holy Days!

Lunar Eclipses

The four lunar eclipses will occur on:
Passover,
April 15, 2014
Feast of Tabernacles,
October 8, 2014
Passover,
April 4, 2015 and
Feast of Tabernacles,
September 28, 2015

This is most unusual. It is a rare occurrence for four lunar cycles to happen on successive Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) observances. It will not happen again for hundreds of years.

Mark is convinced that God was telling the beleaguered Jews that He was fully aware of their circumstances! In that case, we wonder what is God telling the Jews in the 1949 and 1967 lunar eclipses? And, as we look at the next seven years, we wonder, “What is God telling Israel through the upcoming lunar eclipses?” Is it possible these are fulfilling biblical prophecies?

Solar Eclipses

In addition to the four lunar eclipses in 2014-15, Mark also found two solar eclipses. They will occur on:
Adar 29/Nisan 1,
March 20, 2015
The Feast of Trumpets,
September 13-14, 2015

These two dates are quite significant because they are special days in the Jewish calendar. For example, it was on Nisan 1, the first anniversary of the Exodus, that Moses raised up the tabernacle for the first time and the glory of God descended. Two weeks later, the Chosen People observed their first Pentecost since the Exodus. Nisan 1 marks the beginning of the religious festival cycle. Six months later, on Tishri 1, the Jews observe Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets.

Bible Predictions About the Sun and Moon

Now, let’s look at the places in the Bible that speak of the sun being darkened and the moon not giving her light. First of all, Isaiah wrote:

“Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger… the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible” (Isa. 13:9-11).

We are told that this will occur in the “day of the LORD.” It is the time when God will punish the Gentile nations for their wickedness. We are not talking about ordinary everyday living, but gross wickedness against God and His Chosen People. God calls them arrogant, proud and haughty. He says that they are terrible, evil and wicked. It seems to me that he is referring to the nations that are trying to destroy Israel. Again, Isaiah said:

“Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously” (Isa. 24:23).

Since neither the sun nor moon has a conscience, the references to being confounded or ashamed seem to be metaphoric of the condition of man on earth. The darkening of the sun and moon, therefore, are signs of man’s condition. These conditions will prevail at the time of the Lord’s return to judge the wicked and establish His kingdom. Isaiah was the first prophet to write about solar and lunar eclipses, but Joel’s passages are the most widely quoted. Joel wrote:

“The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: “And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?” (Joel 2:10,11).

Again, Joel said: “And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come” (Joel2:30,31).

Finally, Joel said: “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. “The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining” (Joel 3:14-15).

On the day of Pentecost, Peter quoted Joel’s prophecy:

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come: “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:20-21).

“All these signs, coming together at one time, are potentially the culminating signals that God is closing this chapter of human history,” Biltz said. “This could be the final curtain call before the Great Tribulation mentioned in the Bible. God has always wanted to warn His people, and the rest of the world, before He intervenes. What better way to communicate to us than through the universal language of heavenly signs that speak to every tribe, tongue, and nation?”

These heavenly signs are a WITNESS from God to underscore the fact that the end is drawing to a close very SOON!  These heavenly portents are very auspicious for true Christians and Messianic believers!   As Jesus says:

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28).
